Fulton Citizen to be Recognized for Bravery in Thwarting Armed Robbery Rufus Lynch Dis-Armed Robber of Dominos Pizza
in South Fulton, Held Him for Police AtlantaThis morning, 26 January, at 11 a.m. at the Office of the District Attorney, Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. (Atlanta Judicial Circuit), the Fulton County Police Department, the South Fulton Chamber of Commerce, and the Dominos Pizza corporation will recognize Mr. Rufus Lynch for his exceptional courage in foiling an attempted armed robbery of a Dominos Pizza location at 1195 Fairburn Road in south Fulton County on 13 January. Mr. Lynchwho recently served as a member of the Grand Jurywas waiting in the store for his order when defendant Daniel Cloud (20) entered with a weapon drawn and demanded money from the clerk. Fortunately, the gun jammed, and, in this instant, the quick-thinking Mr. Lynch tackled the robber from behind. In the struggle, Cloud was dis-armed, and the store manager retrieved the weapon. Mr. Lynch held Cloud until Fulton County police arrived to take him into custody. The entire event was caught on the stores surveillance camera. (This tape will be shown at todays recognition event.) The
kind of courage and common decency displayed by Mr. Lynch should not
go unrecognized, says Mr. Howard. He could have simply fled
the scene but instead he chose to act and stop a criminal in his tracks.
Mr. Lynch is a model good citizen, and we thank him. *Media
with cameras are welcome and encouraged to attend.
