Reginald Williams Gets Life Plus 305 Years for Murder, Armed Robberies

Defendant Robbed Adult Novelty Shops in 2003 Crime Spree that Left Man Dead

Atlanta—Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. (Atlanta Judicial Circuit) announces that, following his conviction, Reginald Williams (35) has been sentenced to life plus 305 years in prison for a string of 2003 armed robberies that left one man, James Herrington (45), dead. Williams was found guilty of 43 counts, including murder, felony murder (four counts), armed robbery (11 counts), aggravated assault, aggravated assault with intent to rob (11 counts), kidnapping (11 counts), kidnapping with bodily injury, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony (three counts).

Between 29 April and 30 September 2003, the defendant robbed three adult novelty shops in south Fulton County, victimizing both store clerks and patrons. In the first incident, Williams robbed the Starship Enterprises Adult Video store at 5370 Old National Highway, and then, on 4 May, he robbed the Love Shack at 4050 Fulton Industrial Boulevard. Finally, on 30 September, he went to do the same at the Starship Enterprises Adult Video store at 4403 Fulton Industrial Boulevard. Mr. Herrington was a patron in the store at this time. He fought Williams and was killed in the struggle. All totaled, Williams victimized 13 people in these three incidents, often making patrons crawl on the floor to give him their money.

Then, on 8 June 2004, an inmate in the Fayette County jail informed police that he had information regarding the robbery of the Love Shack store. This information led police to identify Williams as the perpetrator of all of these violent crimes. On 24 June 2004, Williams was taken into custody.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Fani Willis and Assistant District Attorney Daysha Young prosecuted the case. Fulton County Police Detective G. Brown, along with Saul Alter and Bernadette Hernandez of the District Attorney’s Office, investigated. Judge Ural Glanville presided.
