ATTACKER GETS LIFE FOR VIOLENT ALPHARETTA HOME INVASION
Couple Robbed, Bound and Sexually Assaulted
Atlanta- A Fulton County jury has returned a guilty verdict in the home invasion, sexual assault case against 22-year old Gregory Toumani Miller. Miller was convicted of Rape, Aggravated Sodomy, Aggravated Sexual Battery, Sexual Battery, Aggravated Assault, False Imprisonment, Armed Robbery and Criminal Attempt to Commit Armed Robbery for an attack on an Alpharetta couple two years ago.
The incident happened on August 10, 2006 as the couple returned home from grocery shopping. According to investigators, the defendant was lurking at the bottom of the stairs while the man and woman tried to enter their apartment. He rushed up behind them, jammed a gun in the back of the males head and forced the two inside. He then took the womans bank and credit cards and demanded she reveal her PINs. The defendant disabled the womans cell phone and internet service and ordered the couple to take off their clothes. The man was bound and dragged into the kitchen. The defendant then fondled the woman, forced her to perform oral sex and then raped her. After that assault, the defendant washed up and left. The victims immediately called police. Miller was later identified in a photo line-up.
Judge Marvin Arrington, who presided over the case, sentenced Miller to life in prison.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Cheveda McCamy and Reid Thompson with assistance from Investigator Greg Patterson of the Fulton County District Attorneys Investigations Unit. The Alpharetta Police Department led the initial investigation.
