Leviticus Burns Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murder of Reginald Berry, Shooting of Another

Defendant Pleads Guilty in 2001 Shootings Outside Nightclub

Atlanta—Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. (Atlanta Judicial Circuit) announces that, following his guilty plea to charges of malice murder and aggravated assault, Leviticus Burns (29) has been sentenced to life in prison for the 13 October 2001 murder of Reginald Berry (40) and the wounding of Morris Durden (36). Burns shot both victims following a fight between two groups of patrons outside the Smokehouse Grill at 2865 Bankhead Highway in Atlanta.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Brett Pinion prosecuted the case, Atlanta Police Detective M. Walker investigated, and Judge Philip Etheridge presided.
