Keon Davis Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murder of Jahangir Alam, Shooting of Another

Defendant Pleads Guilty in 2001 Shootings in Convenience Store

Atlanta—Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. (Atlanta Judicial Circuit) announces that, following his guilty plea to charges of felony murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Keon Davis (21) has been sentenced to life in prison (plus 20 years to be served concurrently) for the 29 April 2001 murder of Jahangir Alam (52) and the wounding of Ilias Hossain (46). Davis shot both victims during an attempted robbery of the Stop N Buy convenience store at 2795 Bankhead Highway in northwest Atlanta. Unable to open the cash register, the defendant fled the scene with only some stolen cigarettes.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Clinton Rucker prosecuted the case, Atlanta Police Detective B. Zimbrick investigated, and Judge Gail Tusan presided.
