GUNMAN INDICTED FOR SHOOTING DEATH OF CHATTAHOOCHEE HILLS POLICE OFFICER
State vs. Robert Milam Cook
Atlanta- Less than a month after the tragic murder of Chattahoochee Hills Police Lieutenant Michael Vogt, a Fulton County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against his accused killer. 44-year old Robert Millam Cook of Fairburn is now formally charged with Murder, two counts of Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer, Possession of a Machine Gun and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony in the six count indictment against him.
Lt. Vogt was gunned down on the morning of February 15, 2010 on Vernon Grove Road in South Fulton County. The officer was en route to another call when he encountered the defendant on the dirt road and determined he was under the influence of alcohol. Vogt asked for Cooks drivers license but was instead met with a barrage of gun shots. Lt. Vogt was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Cook was arrested a few days later following a tip.
Following todays indictment, the case will be assigned to a Fulton County Superior Court Judge and then scheduled for trial.
