CHILD RAPIST SENTENCED TO THREE CONSECUTIVE LIFE SENTENCES

State vs. Michael Ross

Atlanta- A Fulton County jury has returned a guilty verdict against 25 year-old Michael Ross. Ross was convicted of Rape, three counts of Aggravated Child Molestation, and Cruelty to Children in the First Degree against his girlfriend’s eight-year-old daughter.

Testimony revealed that Ross raped and sodomized the child both orally and anally in the mother’s Southwest Atlanta apartment over a three-month period in late 2007 and early 2008. Ross blamed the victim’s 12-year-old brother for the offense, but medical, physical and DNA evidence showed that Ross sexually abused the child. Ross’s semen was found on the child’s shirt worn during the last incident of rape and on the shirt used to wipe ejaculate from the child’s body.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Craig L. Schwall sentenced Ross to three consecutive life sentences.

Assistant District Attorney Shireen Hormozdi and Senior Assistant District Attorney Yolanda Mack prosecuted the case with assistance from D.A. Investigator Antonio Long. Investigator C. Brown of the Atlanta Police Department led the initial investigation. Forensic Biologist Cleveland Miles of the GBI performed the DNA analysis.
