Defendant Targeting Man He Thought Set Him Up
Atlanta- Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. announces a conviction by jury trial in the case against Eddie Robinson. Robinson was sentenced to Life plus 90 years following his conviction on charges of Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault (five counts) and weapons charges for the murder of 30-year old Kenyon Beaty.
Beaty was killed on August 10, 2005 while visiting friends and relatives in the now demolished Bankhead Court Apartments. Defendant Robinson opened fire on the group from the passenger window of a car while shouting, Why you send them boys to rob me? He was targeting a separate man who had recently approached the group and began talking with them. Kenyon Beaty, an innocent bystander, was struck in the chest and died on the scene. Another man in the group suffered a graze wound to the chest but survived.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Christopher Brasher presided over the case. Senior Assistant District Attorney Cheveda McCamy led the prosecution team consisting of Senior ADA Chuck Boring and DA Investigator Steve Dimasi. Detective David Quinn of the Atlanta Police Department was the lead detective.
