Earl Anderson Sentenced to 40 Years for Rape of Daughter

Defendant Pleads Guilty to Incest Resulting in Birth of Baby

Atlanta-Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. (Atlanta Judicial Circuit) announces that, following his guilty plea, Earl Anderson (46) has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the rape of his own daughter. He pleaded guilty to rape and incest. Anderson, who told his daughter that there was nothing wrong with what he was doing, began raping the girl some time in 1999 when she was 11—shortly after the family moved to Georgia from New York. By the time she was 15, he had impregnated her. The girl gave birth to his baby in January of last year. The victim, who is now 17 years old, and the baby are in the custody of the Department of Family & Children Services. (The defendant is not a United States citizen and will be deported back to England if he lives beyond his sentence.)

“The horror of this crime almost defies description,” says Mr. Howard. “While justice has surely been done today, these victims—generations of a family—may never truly heal from what this man did.”

Senior Assistant District Attorney Laura Jansen prosecuted the case. Atlanta Police Officer J. Higgins, along with Marshall English of the District Attorney’s Office, investigated, and Judge Michael Johnson presided.
