THREE MURDER CASES SET FOR TRIAL THIS WEEK
State vs. Marquice Burks, Courtney Franklin, and Johnny McClendon The defendants are accused of the shooting death of Christopher Crawford on April 13, 2007 on Joseph Lowery Boulevard. The shooting followed an earlier related robbery of the defendants acquaintance. Jury selection is currently underway in Fulton County Superior Court, Judge Michael Johnson presiding, courtroom 8B.
State vs. Cori Williams Defendant Williams is accused of shooting victim Terry Williams on May 22, 2007 during an alleged armed robbery. The victim was shot while walking on Seminole Avenue in Little Five Points after being approached by the defendant. He died a week after the shooting from his injuries. Jury selection is underway in courtroom 5C of the Fulton County Superior Court with Judge Mike Stoddard presiding.
State vs. Paul Brown Trial is underway in the murder case against Paul Brown. Victim Carlene Jones body was discovered in a car on Thurmond Street in Atlanta on October 8, 2008. She had been assaulted and her tracheal tube removed, resulting in asphyxiation. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Wendy Shoob is presiding over the case in courtroom 7E.
All three cases are being prosecuted by the Major Case Division of the District Attorneys Office.
