1ST MAN GUILTY IN '06 MURDER OF RETIRED DELTA EMPLOYEE

25-Year-Old Jarmarvis Dixon Found Guilty on all 14 Counts in Killing of Thomas Vinson

Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. announces the conviction today of 25-year-old Jarmarvis Dixon of East Point on charges of murder, 3 counts of felony murder, armed robbery, hijacking a motor vehicle, burglary, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, financial transaction card theft and 2 counts of financial transaction card fraud. The Fulton County Superior Court jury began its deliberations Friday and continued today. Senior Judge McConnell postponed sentencing until further notice. The State is recommending a sentence of life plus 54 years.

On December 22, 2006, 59-year-old Thomas Vinson, was working on one of several houses he owned on Hardin Avenue in College Park-preparing to return to his Fayetteville home- when he was accosted by Dixon and co-defendant, 20-year-old Ronregus Watts. The retired Delta Airlines employee, was shot and robbed of his wallet and 1994 Chevy truck. Both defendants were apprehended at a Kroger grocery store four days later while trying to make a purchase with the victim's stolen credit card. Jury selection in Watts' trial is scheduled to get underway tomorrow morning.

This case are being prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Linda Dunikoski of the Major Case Unit. It was investigated by Detective A. D. Redding of the College Park Police Department along with David White of the Fulton County District Attorney's Investigations Unit. Services to the witnesses and family members of the victim were provided by Scott Long of the DA's Victim-Witness Assistance Program.
