LITTLE FIVE POINTS SHOOTER PLEADS GUILTY Defendant Asks for A Light, Opens Fire Atlanta- Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. announces a conviction by guilty plea in the murder case against 22 -year-old Cori Williams. Williams pled guilty this afternoon in the midst of jury deliberations to Voluntary Manslaughter and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony for the 2007 shooting death of Terry Williams, 47, on the streets of Little Five Points. On the evening of May 22, 2007, the victim and a friend were walking along the 400 block Seminole Avenue when they encountered Cori Williams. The defendant asked the two men for a light. The victims friend, Eric Stalker gave the suspect his lighter and when he asked for it to be returned, Defendant Williams pulled out a revolver and demanded Mr. Stalkers money. As the victim, Terry Williams, attempted to intervene, the defendant turned and shot the victim in the head. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he died eight days later. Cori Williams fled the scene, but confessed to several people that he shot somebody in the face at Little Five Points. He was arrested a couple of weeks later. Unfortunately, the only witness to this crime was unable to positively identify Cori Williams as the shooter. For that reason, the State agreed to accept a plea of guilty to the reduced charges. Williams was sentenced to 20 years to serve 14 by presiding Judge Mike Stoddard. The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Linda
Dunikoski with assistance from ADA LaDawn Blackett-Jones and DA Investigator
Michael Green. Detective J. Stephens of the Atlanta Police Department
led the initial investigation.
