District Attorney Paul Howard Announces Indictment
of Kenneth Reese in Death of Officer Aaron Blount Reese
Faces Seven Counts Including Murder, Aggravated Assault Atlanta-Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. (Atlanta Judicial Circuit) announces that Kenneth G. Reese (26) has been indicted on seven felony counts including murder, felony murder (two counts), aggravated assault on a peace officer, obstruction of law enforcement officer, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony (two counts). The charges stem from a 22 April incident in which Reese shot and killed Fulton County Police Officer Aaron J. Blount. "Any time a police officer is killed in the line of duty, we are compelled to move with all deliberate speed toward a resolution," says Mr. Howard. "This indictment allows us to move forward immediately in the extradition process, which will ultimately return this defendant to Fulton County to face justice." A decision regarding the death penalty in this case will be announced in the near future. These charges are merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. CONTACT: Erik Friedly, 404-224-0560 (office); 404-533-1381 (pager)
