SUPPLIED WITH CASH BY HIS OWN FATHER, VICTIM AND FRIEND ARE KILLED ON FIRST ATTEMPT TO BUY DRUGS
A young man who was supplied cash from his father to make his first drug purchase is murdered along with his friend in what was described as an execution style killing over fake dope.
Three defendants, Kelvin T. Williams (age 29), Quinton Robinson (age 27) and Quanthony D. Williams (age 27) were convicted in the murder of Brian Stringer (age 27) and Myron Long (age 22). Testimony during the trial revealed that Long was provided $21,000 in cash by his father who encouraged his son to make the drug purchase, which was his first and last.
On August 24, 2003, the victims phoned one of the defendants to arrange a cocaine purchase. They agreed to meet at a home located on Martin Street in the City of Atlanta. Once there, Long and Stringer discovered that the drugs were counterfeit. They were disarmed, robbed of $21,000.00 in cash and murdered. One of the victims was shot in the back of the head and the other was shot in the chest. Defendant Quanthony D. Williams confessed to investigators that he set up the meeting and that after the murders they left the scene, taking the fake dope and cash with them.
All three of the defendants had previous felony convictions. A fourth suspect in the case, Kenneth Partee, will be tried separately. Williams, Robinson and Williams were sentenced to two life sentences to run consecutively plus 20 years plus 5 years in prison.
Judge Henry Newkirk presided over the case. It was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorneys Clint Rucker and Susannah Wright. Lead Detective on the case was Det. J. D. Stevens of the Atlanta Homicide Division. The case was investigated by G. G. Carawan and James Higgins of the Fulton County District Attorneys Investigations Unit.
