FULTON COUNTY EMPLOYEE PLEADS GUILTY TO IDENTITY THEFT

“SHE USED THE SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS OF PATIENTS TO

OPEN CHARGE CARDS AND MAKE PURCHASES”

A former Fulton County Department of Welfare employee, Stacie Allen, plead guilty to stealing the social security numbers of patients that visited the Fulton County Health and Wellness Clinic in Alpharetta where she was employed as a Public Health Nurse Technician.

Allen stole the social security numbers and other personal information from women patients at the clinic. She used the information to secure credit card accounts in both the victims name and her name. During her crime spree, the former Fulton County employee charged over $35,000.00 on the illegally obtained credit cards. Police determined that she used the cards to purchase expensive restaurant meals, to obtain cash advances and to pay her utility bills. Allen had five prior convictions for similar offenses in Richmond County, Georgia.

On the first nine counts, Stacie Allen was sentenced to 15 years in prison to serve 5 years with the balance of the sentence to be served on probation. She was also ordered to make full restitution to her victims and not seek employment in a position that would allow her access to public funds or information. On the 10th count, she received an additional 10 years to serve consecutive to the first nine counts to be suspended if she does not violate the law once she is released from prison.

Judge Henry Newkirk presided over the case. It was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Kellie Hill. Lead Detectives on the case was Det. Edward Benefield of the Fulton County Police Department and Det. Roger Marbut of the Roswell Police Department. The case was investigated by Inv. Cameron Crandall of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Investigations Unit.
