FOUR LIFE SENTENCES FOR CONVICTED RAPIST

2ND Rape Conviction for Defendant, First Victim Testifies at Trial

Atlanta- Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. announces the conviction by jury trial of 43-year old David Robertson of Atlanta. Robertson was convicted late Tuesday of two counts of rape and aggravated sodomy for the sexual assault of a 16-year old girl.

The incident happened in April of 2005 when Robertson came to visit a friend who shared a home in Marietta where several young girls lived with their families. After socializing for a while, the defendant offered to drive two sisters to a friend’s house. One sister decided to stay at the friend’s while the other opted to go back home. The defendant promised to return the girl to her house after making a few stops and taking in the “city lights”. He drove her to Piedmont Park and proceeded to kiss and fondle her. He then forced her out of the car where he raped and sodomized her. He threatened to “hunt” her down if she ran. After the initial assault, the two drove around a while longer before the defendant decided to stop the car a second time—once again forcing the victim out and raping her on the ground. Robertson then drove the teenager home. She immediately told a friend about the attack. The victim’s mother was later notified and then contacted police. The defendant was arrested several days later.

Robertson was convicted in 1993 for raping a 14-year old Fulton County girl. He was sentenced to ten years to serve three for that crime. The victim in that case testified for the State. Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville, who presided over this recent case, sentenced Robertson to four consecutive life sentences.

The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorneys Cheveda McCamy and Melissa Redmon with assistance from DA Investigator Cindy Williamson. Detective A.F. Gentile with the Atlanta Police Department led the initial investigation.
