GRAND JURY INDICTES MOTHER AND BOYFRIEND FOR THE MURDER OF 15 MONTH OLD CHILD

Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. announces the Grand Jury’s indictment of 20-year-old Loboiya Brown and her 19 year-old boyfriend Brandon Hall in the May 2008 murder of 15 month-old Amiya Brown. The Grand Jury indicted Ms. Brown for the offense of felony murder, cruelty to children in the first degree, and contributing to the deprivation of a minor child. Hall was indicated for the offenses of murder, felony murder, and cruelty to children in the first degree and aggravated assault. Both defendants face mandatory life sentences.

On Monday, May 19, 2008, the victim was taken to Hughes Spalding Children’s Hospital by her mother; the victim was treated for a fractured arm and leg. The Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) was called by the hospital, after an interview with Ms. Brown the child was release back into her custody. Nine days later, at 7:00 pm, an Emergency Medical Team was dispatched from Hughes Spalding Children’s Hospital to the residence of the victim, because the child was not conscious. A short time later, the young victim was pronounced dead-on-arrival by emergency doctors at Hughes Spalding Children’s Hospital.
