SCHIZOPHRENIC BROTHER CONVICTED OF BRUTAL STABBING DEATH OF SISTER
Victim Stabbed 28-Times in Dispute Over a Stolen Check
Atlanta- Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. announces the conviction by jury trial of 62-year old Willie Jackson. Following a four-day trial which began on Monday, a Fulton County jury found Jackson guilty of Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Knife during the commission of a felony for the May 2006 stabbing death of his sister, Willie Mae Jackson, 66.
Ms. Jackson was killed on May 4, 2006 in the Atlanta apartment she shared with her brother. A witness who was in the home at the time of the incident stated the defendant stormed into his sisters bedroom wielding a knife and accusing the victim of stealing his check. He then threatened to kill her. The witness left the apartment to call 911. When police arrived, the defendant barricaded himself in the apartment and proceeded to wave a machete out of the window at police while yelling that he had killed someone because she cut off his check. The SWAT team eventually made forced entry into the apartment and subdued the defendant. The victim was discovered dead with 28 stab wounds to her body. Ms. Jackson was a caretaker for her brother who had a long-history of schizophrenia. Defendant Jackson was sentenced to Life in Prison by visiting Senior Superior Court Judge Robert Mallis who presided over the case.
Senior Assistant District Attorney Fani Willis prosecuted the case with assistance from ADA Paul Arena-Camarillo and DA Investigator Olyemphis Huff. Detective Vasquez of the Atlanta Police Department led the initial investigation.
