FULTON ADA CHOSEN FOR EXCLUSIVE HI-TECH TRAINING

Course focused on Cyber Crime and Forensics

Atlanta- Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. is pleased to announce the selection of Assistant District Attorney Sherilyn Streicker for the National Computer Forensics Institute (NCFI) in Hoover, Alabama. ADA Streicker is one of only 23 attorneys chosen from a nationwide pool of prosecutors for the upcoming Computer Forensics training class scheduled for August 23-27, 2010. She is the first prosecutor from the Metro Atlanta area nominated for the exclusive training.

The NCFI was established in 2007 through a partnership initiative between the United States Secret Service, the Department of Homeland Security and the Alabama District Attorney’s Association. The goal of the collaborative is to train law enforcement, judges and prosecutors in computer forensics and digital evidence in the face of growing new-age threats from cyber criminals who exploit technology for criminal gain. The state-of-the-art facility will provide participants with the training necessary to conduct basic electronic crimes investigations, respond to network intrusion incidents and conduct computer forensics examinations.

ADA Streicker was nominated for the NCFI training because of her extensive work with the Secret Service’s Electronic Crimes Task Force and the Atlanta Police Department’s Major Fraud Unit on complex organized crime cases involving high-tech investigative methods and evidentiary issues. One of her most notable cases was the 2009 prosecution of the self-titled “Dirty White Boys” an organized fraud group operating in Fulton County and along the Eastern Seaboard.

Streicker is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio with a degree in Technical Communication. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Emory University. Prior to joining the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office four years ago, Ms. Streicker was a Presidential Management Fellow with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She is currently assigned to the White Collar Crime Unit.
