Store Owner Comes To Employees Defense, Store Clerk Fatally Shot in Crossfire
Atlanta- Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. announces the conviction by jury trial in the murder case against Terrone Anthony. Anthony was found guilty on all charges including Murder, Felony Murder, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault and weapons charges for the shooting death of McKibben, 21. He was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Constance Russell.
McKibben, a clerk and Moreland Package Store in Atlanta, was gunned down on December 4, 2009. The defendant and a second suspect entered the store, held the clerk at gunpoint and demanded money. When Defendant Anthony turned to chase another employee who ran to the back of the store, the clerk pulled a gun and shot at Anthony. Anthony returned fire hitting McKibben, the store clerk, three times-twice in the back. The store owner, who was in a back office, came to his employees defense and began shooting at the suspects hitting defendant Anthony twice. Anthony fled the scene leaving a trail of blood behind. He was arrested two blocks away from the scene wearing the same clothes and mask witnesses describe him in at the scene. Aaron Jackson, tried as a co-defendant in the case was acquitted.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Cheveda McCamy with assistance from ADA Robin Daitch and DA Investigator Josh Blakely. Investigator S.R. Benton with the Atlanta Police Department was the lead detective.
