THREE INDICTED IN HOME INVASION CASE TRIO FACE FELONY CHARGES OF ANIMAL CRUELTY FOR SHOOTING
FAMILY DOGS Just two weeks after the crime, a Grand Jury returned indictments today against three alleged intruders in a South Fulton County burglary case. 18-year old Reshard Harris, Brandon Pettis, 20 and a 16-year old juvenile are each charged with two counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, two counts of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, one count of Burglary and one count of Criminal Damage to Property in the second degree. According to investigators, the trio broke into the Chattahoochee Hills home of Louise Liles and her husband Richard Dendy on the morning of August 14, 2008. The couple's two dogs Maya and Ginger were shot and killed during the raid. One was found in the family den, the other in the master bedroom. The investigation revealed the dogs were not shot in self-defense and in fact were running away from the shooters. The intruders fled the property with a computer, a video game system, a rifle, a checkbook and lawn supplies. The were caught a short time later after speeding through town, nearly ramming into the community's Public Safety Director Larry Parrott. Parrott questioned the group about items in the truck and they were later arrested. Harris and Pettis are being held without bond in the Fulton County jail. The teenager was released to his parents. The case is being prosecuted by the Animal Cruelty Unit of the Fulton County District Attorney's Office.
