ATTORNEY EXPECTED TO PLEAD GUILTY IN VEHICULAR HOMICIDE CASE

State vs. Antonio Tolliver

Atlanta- An Atlanta attorney with a history of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) convictions is expected to enter a guilty plea this afternoon in connection with a deadly crash that killed one person and injured two others. Antonio Tolliver, 40, is charged with Vehicular Homicide, Serious Injury by Vehicle, DUI and reckless driving.

The incident happened on October 1, 2006 at Fort and Ellis Streets in Atlanta. The defendant is accused of running a red light and crashing into a cab. Passenger Shannon Brown, 31, was killed instantly and her boyfriend Elbert Hall was permanently injured. Cab driver John McClendon suffered a broken femur, blunt force trauma to the chest and a traumatic brain injury. Defendant Tolliver escaped the crash with only a minor injury. His blood alcohol level was .207, more than double the legal limit.

Tolliver’s plea is expected to be heard this afternoon at 1:00 before Fulton County Superior Court Judge Constance Russell in Courtroom 5B. Following his plea Tolliver will be sentenced at the Court’s discretion. The State is recommending a sentence of 20 years to serve.
