25-YEAR SENTENCE FOR ATTORNEY IN VEHICULAR HOMICIDE CASE

Defendant Had History of DUI’s, Blood Alcohol Level Double Legal Limit

Atlanta- An Atlanta attorney with a history of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) convictions entered a guilty plea this afternoon in connection with a deadly crash that killed one person and injured two others. Antonio Tolliver, 40, was sentenced to 25-years in prison after pleading guilty to Vehicular Homicide and Serious Injury by Vehicle charges stemming from that DUI crash five years ago.

The incident happened on October 1, 2006 at Fort and Ellis Streets in Atlanta. The defendant, whose blood alcohol level was .207, more than double the legal limit, ran a red light and crashed into a cab. Passenger Shannon Brown, 31, was killed instantly and her boyfriend Elbert Hall was permanently injured. Cab driver John McClendon suffered a broken femur, blunt force trauma to the chest and a traumatic brain injury. Defendant Tolliver escaped the crash with only minor cuts. Prior to this incident, Tolliver had been convicted of DUI four times.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Constance Russell presided over plea proceedings and sentencing.

The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Linda Dunikoski with assistance from DA Investigator Terri Jackson. Investigator T. Shane Keller of the Atlanta Police Department led the initial investigation.
