FULTON DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S STATEMENT RE: NICHOLS CASE

Atlanta—Many of you have requested reaction from Mr. Howard regarding remarks made during the Brian Nichols hearing of Tuesday, October 3, 2006. Here is his statement:

“During the course of criminal trials, professional disagreements regarding trial strategy between the lawyers and the court can sometimes develop. On occasion, the exchanges may appear harsh and personally motivated. Such is the nature of a criminal trial.”

“At the outset of this trial, my office, the judge and the defense team voluntarily agreed to refrain from making personal remarks about each other and to refrain from making statements to the media about the Nichols case. It is the intention of the District Attorney’s Office to continue to abide by this agreement.”
