Child Molester Gets Two Consecutive Life Sentences

Jimmy Cain Guilty in Molestation of Two Family Members

Atlanta—Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. (Atlanta Judicial Circuit) announces that, following his conviction, Jimmy Eugene Cain (54) has been sentenced to two consecutive life sentences for the 2003 molestation of two female family members. Cain was found guilty of two counts of child molestation. Cain molested the girls, ages eight and 11 at the time, repeatedly at his home and their own in southwest Atlanta. He is the girls’ great uncle. It was through another victim’s outcry—also a family member—that police were able to discover these two victims.

Cain is a twice-convicted child molester, with a conviction from 1976 (for which he served five years) and another in 1988 (for which he was sentenced to two years in prison and 13 years on probation). The 1988 conviction involved the rape of his 14-year-old step-daughter. The assault resulted in a pregnancy, and paternity was established through DNA testing.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Linda J. Dunikoski prosecuted the case. Atlanta Police Sergeant C.R. Whitmire, along with Cynthia Franklin of the District Attorney’s Office, investigated. Judge Gino Brogdon presided.
