District Attorney, Commissioner Boxill & Atlanta
Medical Center Offer Event in Citys Old Fourth Ward Takes Stand
Against Crime AtlantaFulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard Jr. (Atlanta Judicial Circuit), Fulton County Commissioner Nancy Boxill (District 6), and the Atlanta Medical Center are pleased to announce a Community Safe Night Out in Atlantas Old Fourth Ward on Friday, 4 November, at the corner of Boulevard and Ralph McGill Avenue. From 56:30 p.m., games, crafts, refreshments, and information booths will be available to children and adults, offering them a safe and fun evening in their own community. Children can decorate autumnal gourds, have their faces painted, climb on board a City of Atlanta fire truck, and even play a game of tag football. This event will say to the Old Fourth Ward communityand others like itthat together we can take back our citys streets from crime and fear, says Mr. Howard. Children playing outside in the evening and adults walking their neighborhoods should be an everyday occurrence, and we intend to send that message. I am delighted to work with the District Attorneys Office and our many responsible corporate citizens and business partners to offer children and families an opportunity to enjoy a simple, peaceful evening in their community, says Commissioner Boxill. Our citizens should not be afraid to walk to the corner store or let their children enjoy their own neighborhoods. Local businesses, City and County agencies, community organizations, and individuals are also supporting Safe Night Out by providing everything from information booths to refreshments to backpacks and school supplies. This event would not be possible without the generous assistance of the Atlanta Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Studio Grille, Edgewood Auto Spa, Whole Foods Market, the Old Fourth Ward Alliance, and Mr. Kwanza Hall of the City of Atlanta School Board (District 1). The Fulton County Arts Council, the Fulton County Department of Health & Wellness, the Fulton County Department of Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities & Addictive Diseases, and the City of Atlanta Police and Fire Departments are also taking part in this event. For more information about Safe Night Out, citizens can call 404.730.8227. *Media with cameras are welcome and encouraged to attend.
