Gregory Grimes Gets Life in Prison for Murder of Bobby Grier Defendant Guilty of 2003 Stabbing Death AtlantaFulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. (Atlanta Judicial Circuit) announces that, following his conviction, Gregory Grimes (34) has been sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years to run concurrent for the 26 January 2003 murder of Bobby Grier (56). Grimes was found guilty of felony murder (two counts), voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, and criminal attempt to commit armed robbery. On the morning of the incident, the defendant, who was looking to rob someone, went to the victims home at 718 Garibaldi Street in southwest Atlanta. Mr. Grier, who happened to be leaving the house, was attacked by Grimes, who demanded money. During the struggle, the defendant stabbed the victim when he refused to comply. The victim was able to walk a few feet before collapsing at 350 Bass Street. Senior Assistant District Attorney Charles L. Webb prosecuted the case. Atlanta Homicide Detective J.K. Brown, along with Crispin Henry of the District Attorneys Office, investigated. Judge Gino Brogdon presided. CONTACT:
