TRIAL SET FOR DEFENDANTS ACCUSED IN MURDER OF STANDOUT WASHINGTON HIGH STUDENT KYLE MOORE
State vs. Maurice Aikens and Edward Wallace
Atlanta- Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. announces the start of trial for two men accused of the armed robbery and shooting death of 17-year old Kyle Moore. State vs. Maurice Aikens and Edward Wallace is on the trial calendar set for Monday, December 1, 2008 at 9:30 am. The case will be heard in Fulton County Superior Court, Room 8E, with Judge Christopher S. Brasher presiding.
Moore was killed on May 3, 2007 while standing at a bus stop on Astor Avenue in Atlanta. Authorities say two men approached the teenager at gunpoint and demanded his cell phone and wallet. He was gunned down with a barrage of nine shots after giving the robbers what they asked for. The gunmen fled the scene. Wallace was arrested ten days after the murder. Aikens was captured in June 2007 by the Atlanta Police Departments fugitive squad. Both men are charged with Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Kyle Moore was a standout high school student and athlete. He was a three-year starter on the Washington High School football team and was being heavily recruited by colleges across the country including Harvard and Brown.
