MOTEL MURDERER SENTENCED TO LIFE
Victim Killed for Crack Cocaine and Money for Motel Bill
Atlanta- Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. announces a conviction by guilty plea against 31-year old David Bell. Bell was charged with Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault and weapons charges for the 2003 murder of Samuel Stanley, 43.
Stanley was gunned down following a robbery in his room at the Summit Inn Motel on Fulton Industrial Boulevard. Shortly before the shooting, Angela Adams, Bells co-defendant, purchased drugs from the victim and returned later with the gunman. When the victim opened the door, Defendant Bell drew a gun and demanded money and property. The victim resisted and was fatally shot. Bell ripped the hotel phone from the wall and instructed his co-defendant to help him duct tape the victim and a female companion. The two stole the victims money, drugs and cell phones before fleeing the scene. They were arrested a week later driving a stolen car in Cobb County. The murder weapon was recovered from the vehicle.
Bell was sentenced to life in prison following his plea. Angela Adams who pled guilty earlier this year for her role in the crime was sentenced to 20 years to serve.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Marvin Arrington presided over the case. It was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Brett Pinion with assistance from DA Investigator G.G. Carawan. Detective G. Brown with the Fulton County Police Department led the initial investigation.
