JURY CONVICTS JEALOUS WIFE FOR STABBING DEATH OF HUSBAND
Defendant Accused Victim of Flirting with Sister, Then Killed Him at Childs Birthday Bash
Atlanta- A Fulton County jury has returned a guilty verdict against 27-year old Carrie Leeks of Atlanta. She was convicted of Felony Murder for the July 4th death of her husband Louis Woodall two years earlier.
The incident happened in 2006 during a birthday party for Leeks three year old son. The defendants sister bought the child a water gun as a gift. The aunt and the defendants husband were showing the boy how to operate the toy when Leeks got upset---believing her husband was flirting with her own sister. The defendant and victim began to argue. Leeks then grabbed a knife and stabbed her husband in the chestpiercing his heart. It all unfolded in front of a crowd of partygoers including young children. Leeks says she acted out in a moment of anger and should be found guilty of a lesser charge of voluntary manslaughternot murder. The jury rejected her claim. She was sentenced to Life in prison for her crime.
Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville presided over the case. It was prosecuted by Chief Senior Assistant District Attorney Fani Willis and Senior ADA Daysha Young with assistance from DA Investigator Beth Suber. Detective D.J. Agan of the Atlanta Police Department led the initial investigation. Media Contact: Yvette Brown, 404-224-0560/404-392-8867,
