Man Dressed as “Santa Claus” Indicted for Assault

Defendant Attacked 74-Year-Old Woman with Board

Atlanta-Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. (Atlanta Judicial Circuit) announces that Elkin Donnie Clark (49) has been indicted on charges of aggravated assault and simple assault (misdemeanor) for a 10 December 2004 attack on Annie Ruth Nelson (74) and Aisha Albritton (21). At 15 Marietta Street in downtown Atlanta, Clark—dressed in a Santa Claus costume—assaulted Ms. Nelson with a large board, striking her in the head. When Ms. Albritton attempted to intervene on her behalf, the defendant threatened to strike her as well.

These charges are merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
