Horace Mosley Sentenced to Life in Prison for Rape of 12-Year-Old Girl Defendant Guilty of Rape, Assault, More Atlanta-Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. (Atlanta Judicial Circuit) announces that, following his conviction, Horace Mosley (38) has been sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years (to be served consecutively) for the June 2003 rape of a 12-year-old girl. Mosley was found guilty of rape, statutory rape, child molestation, and aggravated assault. The defendant, a friend of the girls family, was to take the victim, her brother, and his own son to a community swimming pool. He dropped the boys off at the pool but asked the girl to accompany him to the store. He then took her to his apartment at the Bankhead Court Apartments (3400 Maynard Court in northwest Atlanta), where he said he needed to retrieve his swimsuit. Once inside the apartment, he pointed a gun at the child and forced her into a bedroom, where he raped her. In spite of his threats of violence if she told anyone, she made an outcry to her grandmother a few weeks later. The jury returned its verdict in under two hours. Senior Assistant District Attorney Ash Joshi prosecuted the case, and Judge Gino Brogdon presided. CONTACT: Erik Friedly, 404-224-0560 (office); 770.583.6069 (pager); erik.friedly@co.fulton.ga.us
