Ricardo Waters Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murder
of Kyon Shuemake Defendant Found Guilty in June Shooting at Buckhead
Restaurant Atlanta-Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. (Atlanta Judicial Circuit) announces that, following his conviction, Ricardo Waters (23) has been sentenced to life in prison plus five years for the 30 June 2004 murder of Kyon Shuemake (27). Waters was found guilty of murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The two menwho were friendly acquaintances from Clark-Atlanta University where they both attended collegemet at the TGIFridays restaurant at 2061 Peachtree Street in Buckhead to discuss a monetary debt owed by the defendant to the victim. They sat in the restaurant for some time and then left together. Once in the parking lot, Waters produced a handgun and shot Mr. Shuemake eight times in the back. Senior Assistant District Attorney Michele McCutcheon prosecuted the case, Atlanta Police Detective B. Zimbrick investigated, and Judge Constance Russell presided.
