Lieutenant Martin worked for the City of Atlanta Police Department for twenty-six years. During his tenure, he worked uniform patrol (seven years); CID (nineteen years, nine of which were as a supervisor); Stake Out/Decoy; Missing Persons/Homicide Task Force (where he worked on Missing & Murdered Children of Atlanta); Larceny; Auto Theft; Sex Crimes; Vice and Internal Affairs. In 1998, Lieutenant Martin took an early retirement and joined the Fulton County Police Department, and for five years worked Homicide, Robbery, Burglary, Larceny, and Sex Crimes). In 2003, he transitioned to the Fulton County Police Reserves, where he was later assigned to the Multi-Agency Cold Case Squad (January 2006).

Investigator “AB” Calhoun has been a City of Atlanta Police Officer for twenty-three years. For the first nine years of his career, he worked as a patrol officer in the Uniform Division. He is currently assigned to the Major Case Division Homicide Squad. Investigator Calhoun has spent the past three years assigned to the Multi-Agency Cold Case Squad.

Director Clemens began his law enforcement career in 1999 with the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office where he investigated and assisted in the prosecution of over 750 felony cases. He was the investigator assigned to the first successfully prosecuted case in Georgia solved through the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). In August 2004, he accepted a position with the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office, where he was assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit. In October 2007, he joined the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office as the Director of Cold Case Investigations.

Detective Velazquez has been with the City of Atlanta Police Department for over thirteen years, seven of which he has been assigned to the Homicide Task Force. Detective Velazquez has worked in Red Dog, Zone 5 uniform patrol and Background Investigations. Detective Velazquez is also a Hostage Negotiator for APD. Detective Velazquez has been assigned to the Multi-Agency Cold Case Squad for over three years.

Heather Brooks has been with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Victim-Witness Assistance Program for 21/2 years. Heather has a BA in Psychology from Hampton University, and a MA in Social Work from the University of Georgia. Heather has been working in Victim Advocacy for over seven years and has worked with victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse and neglect. She provides crisis intervention, individual and group counseling for crime victims and their families and ensures that victims have a voice in the legal process.

Sheila Ross graduated from Emory University Law School. She started her career in prosecution in 1996 for the 4th Judicial Circuit of Florida. In 1998, Ms. Ross joined the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office and worked in both the Trial Division and Major Case Division. In 2002, Ms. Ross passed the California Bar and joined the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office Homicide Unit. In 2004, Ms. Ross was asked to return to the Fulton County District Attorney’s to form the Multi-Agency Cold Case Squad. Since the creation of the unit, Ms. Ross has prosecuted several high profile cases that have been featured on Court TV, America’s Most Wanted, Dateline and A&E.

Michelle Beck graduated from Emory University with a BA in Political Science/Sociology, and a MA in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University. Mrs. Beck began working for the City of Atlanta Police Department in 1991. During her tenure with the department, she was a Crime Statistician (Crime Analysis Unit) and a Police Crime Analyst (Homicide Task Force Unit). In 1999, Mrs. Beck joined the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office and was assigned to the Major Case Division where high profile murder and death penalty cases were prosecuted. She was reassigned to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, Multi-Agency Cold Case Squad in 2004.
